  About the Society

The Indian Society of Organ Transplantation was founded at Ahmedabad by the joint efforts of senior nephrologists. The Society had been registered vide registration no Guj./2015/Ahmedabad vide letter no.SPL/R.5/1G dated 24th April 1990. The office of the Society moves along with the Hon. Secretary of the Society. The council is the administrative wing of ISOT. Indian journal of transplantation (IJT) is the official journal of ISOT.

The society aims to promote, develop and exchange scientific knowledge and technical co-operation between clinicians, scientists and others involved in the field of transplantation. It also strives to promote scientific research in various aspects of transplantation and to establish highest ethical standards in transplantation. It works to disseminate knowledge and information amongst the general public in relation to transplantation. It encourages new transplant centers in the country. One of its chief activities is to create public awareness regarding organ donation especially deceased donation and transplantation. ISOT also prints, publishes, distributes and sells books, pamphlets, pictures, periodicals, newspapers, magazines in print or electronic form or any other material concerning the specialty of organ transplantation. ISOT accepts grants, donations and endowment from the Government, Corporate Houses, public and individuals for achieving the objectives of society and institutes awards, fellowships, scholarships, grants, stipends, remuneration to the students, deserving members and the research scholars to enable them to undertake education, patient care and research in the field of transplantation. It organizes national, international, regional meeting, conferences, CME and exhibitions. It also interacts with other national and international societies, NGOs, agencies and individuals to promote the objectives of the society. It also interacts with the State and Central Government in formulating laws and policies in the field of transplantation. The website of ISOT is www.isot.co.in

  About the Journal

Indian Journal of Transplantation, an official publication of Indian Society of Organ Transplantation (ISOT), is a peer-reviewed print + online quarterly national journal. The journal's full text is available online at http://www.ijtonline.in. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.  It has many articles which include original articIes, review articles, case reports etc and is very popular among the nephrologists, urologists and transplant surgeons alike. It has a very wide circulation among all the nephrologists, urologists, transplant surgeons and physicians iinvolved in kidney, heart, liver, lungs and pancreas transplantation.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.


While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

The journal will cover technical and clinical studies related to health, ethical and social issues in field of Organ transplant- Kidney, Liver, Lungs, Pancreas, Intestine, Heart, Cornea, Bone marrow, Stem cell transplant,. Articles with clinical interest and implications will be given preference.
